We’ve all seen the girls that we think to be players, heart breakers and jerks get the cute, gentlemanly, maybe even godly guys. Meanwhile, the good, godly girls appear to be left as wallflowers. We get this “dating karma” attitude and think that if our “good” outweighs our “bad,” then the heavenly gods of love will look down and bless us with cupid’s flawless aim at an “ideal boyfriend target”. We absorb our hearts and minds into becoming “practically perfect in every way,” not so that we bring glory to God (and thus fulfilling life’s purpose), but so that we get good “dating karma.” Now, I think we’ve all played the dating karma game at some point in our merry little lives. You float along in life and then suddenly, BOOM, Mr. Wonderful walks across your way.
target-located.
sites-set.
fire when ready.
You do whatever it is that you think will gain his attention and then, more likely than not, you begin to see “signs” of his returned interest. Within mere seconds, a girl can put his last name with hers, envision their future house, picture and name all of their children. Yes, yes, life suddenly becomes a bed of red roses and you’re walkin‘ on heavenly sunshine. Then, the unexpected and unforgivable happens. Mr. Right gets confused about who Mrs. Right is. He asks out Miss So-and-so and you are left utterly dumbfounded. You’re in total shock because he wasn’t paying close enough attention to his proverbial radar screen. Suddenly, you’re without a “target” and possess with a silent and bitter resentment against another girl and this is all because the karma didn’t pan out the way you predicted. What happened? Haven’t you tried to keep your end of the deal? Haven’t you waited(a long time) for this person? Haven’t you worked on your personality, looks, and skills? Haven’t you done all the goody two shoes things so that your dating karma was really, really good? Why didn’t it work? I mean, that other girl’s karma was awful…right?
It didn’t work because THERE IS NO KARMA SYSTEM. There is a God in heaven with a divine plan for your life. There is a God that knows what is best, and has never, ever promised that “best” means “dating/marriage.” Sorry to be so blunt, but ….get over it. I am writing this from a girl’s point of view and I, personally, think that this means that you do what God has given you to do and to not try and manipulate your current relationship status. CUT IT OUT. Give the male population on your corner of the world a break/breathing room. A long time ago, a guy explained to me that when guys don’t want to pursue a girl it could be for a number reasons. It could possibly be timing, working out personal problems, other areas of focus, pursuing his education or career or any number of personal reasons. You don’t know what a guy is thinking and it is manipulation when you try to change his mind to your own way of thinking. If he’s the one, then sit back and let God do the arranging, not you. If he’s not the one, save yourself the embarrassment and your reputation as a boy crazy and loony romantic. It’s the guy’s job to find you and it’s your job to be found. Yes, I am stressing this used-to-be-obvious fact.
So ladies, take this time to dig, dig, dig deep into all that the entire world that the single life has to offer. There are ministries to be discovered, hurting people to help, friendships to be cultivated, skills to be sharpened, and places to be seen! God will work out what He will in His own precious time and in His own way; and realize that this does not necessarily mean a diamond ring. Realize this and rejoice in it, be glad in it, and be thankful for it. For, whatever God deems best, IS TRULY BEST. Take comfort in knowing that it’s not up to you! It is not even really up to you to look and keep an eye out for someone. Maybe it’s just me, but life is a lot easier when you just do assigned tasks in life and not force opportunities to knock on your door. Contentment is respectable and it breeds happiness. So, you’re single…and...? A lot of people are. It’s not a disease! It is God’s marvelous will and something that ought not to be taken for granted. This attitude will cultivate emotional rest in a girl’s heart. Instead of having to scramble and hang on to each possibility, back off, chill out, and just enjoy life. The grass is always greener in our selfish mind, but our perfect destiny is in God’s hand. Don’t rush Him. Let Christ be your prince and your soul’s love. If what you share with the world as a single girl is depression and gloom, why would that be any different when you’re dating? Live life to the fullest and have the joy of the Lord- NOW. Even a changed relationship status on Facebook can’t get you that! Be encouraged, my friends! Be secure in Him! Be excited about the "NOW" phase of life! His will is nothing short of bliss! His will is nothing short of honest to goodness, nothing-but -the best kind joy you can ever find. And, I mean ever <3
